Setting up the IVA for Apple Business Chat

Ensure that users can interact with your Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant™ (IVA) by sending messages from Apple Business Chat. By conveniently interacting in an everyday messaging platform, users can address their business needs in your application more efficiently.

For example, for an online store application, customers can instantly message your chatbot from their iPhone by using Apple Business Chat to report problems with their recent product purchase.
Before you begin:
  • Configure Digital Messaging channel security settings. For more information, see Configuring Digital Messaging channel security.
  • If you do not have an IVA for Digital Messaging, create a Digital Messaging channel. For more information, see Creating a Digital Messaging channel.
  • If you do not have a Business Chat account, create one in the Apple Business Chat portal by registering for the Apple iMessage service. In the Messaging Service Provider section of your Apple Business Chat account, select the provider specified for your implementation, for example: Pegasystems Inc. or Pegasystems Inc. EU. Apple will generate a Business Chat identifier for your account. For more information, refer to the Apple Business Chat portal.
You access the Digital Messaging Manager in the Digital Messaging channel to configure individual messaging accounts in one place for your application.

  1. In the navigation pane of App Studio, click Channels.
  2. In the Current channel interfaces section, click the icon that represents your existing Digital Messaging channel.
  3. In the Digital Messaging channel, click the Connection tab.
  4. Click Manage connections.
  5. In the Digital Messaging Manager window, click Add Connection, and then click the Apple Business Chat icon.
  6. On the New ABC page, in the Name field, enter a label for your Apple Business Chat account to use in the system.
  7. In the Business Chat ID field, enter the identifier for your Apple Business Chat account.
    Apple generates a unique Business Chat identifier when you create an account in the Apple Business Chat portal.

  8. Click Save.Result: The system displays information that the new Apple Business Chat account was successfully registered.
  9. Optional: To display all of your configured accounts for messaging platforms in the Digital Messaging Manager window, click Home.
  10. Close the browser window, and then in the Digital Messaging channel, click Save.
