Creating a data type

Suggest edit Updated on September 10, 2021

Use data types to simplify the organization of the information that your application needs to process a case. For example, configure an Onboarding application to provide orientation course suggestions to new hires based on department. In the Onboarding application, a Courses data type might include fields such as Course ID, Course Title, Department, Duration, and Description.

  1. In the App Studio navigation panel, click Data.
  2. Under Data, click Data types and integrations.
  3. Click New.
  4. In the Data type name field, enter a name for the data type that you want to create.
  5. In the Define source data section, accept the default settings to connect to Pega database storage.
Note: The default settings connect to Pega database storage immediately. To defer defining a source system, (for example, if your source system is not yet ready) select Later. For more information on defining the source data, see Bringing data into your application.
  6. Click Submit.
