Syncing rules between the production environment and the updated, cloned, staging environment in Deployment Manager
For each application, promote an application product rule, which includes a sample of the production data and rule configurations used to complete thorough regression testing of the application on the updated cloned, staging environment. Use ad hoc tasks in Deployment Manager promote the rules. Ad hoc tasks are available in Deployment Manager 4.8.2 and later.
You must be a superadmin user in Deployment Manager to use Ad hoc tasks. For more information about
roles and users, see Understanding roles and users.
- Create or re-use an application test product rule that exports the necessary
rules from your production environment to the updated, cloned, staging
environment.
- If your production system has only locked rule sets, create the product rule on the development environment, and then promote it to production, using a standard deployment pipeline.
- If your production system has an unlocked configuration rule set, create the product rule in that rule set.
For more information about creating product rules, see Packaging your application in a product rule. - In your update pipeline, use an ad hoc task to package from your production environment and deploy it to the development environment, which you already mapped to the updated, cloned, staging environment. For more information, see Performing ad hoc tasks.
