Keeping current with Pega
This document provides information about keeping your Pega solutions up-to-date, both for Pega Cloud services and on-premises environments.
For Pega Cloud services, Pega encourages you to allow Pega to keep your environments current on the latest Pega Platform full release or patch, in addition to the periodic infrastructure maintenance that Pega Cloud services performs in your environment.
For on-premises deployments, you can upgrade to the latest Pega Platform release to take advantage of the latest Pega Platform capabilities. You can keep your Pega solutions current by applying patches to your current release.

- Updating and patching Pega Infinity
To keep your Pega Infinity software current, update to the latest releases of Pega Platform and your Pega applications or apply a patch to your existing software. Update to take advantage of the latest features, capabilities, and security and bug fixes or apply a patch to address important security and reliability improvements.
- Pega Platform changes with update impact
As Pega Infinity software advances, Pega is committed to providing software updates with minimal disruption so both you and your customers can continue to access and use Pega applications throughout the entire update process.
- How Pega Cloud keeps your environment current
Pega Cloud services ensures that you have access to the latest features and capabilities of Pega Platform and your Pega applications by performing periodic system maintenance on your Pega Cloud environments. This is part of the standard maintenance policy Pega provides to you as defined in Pega Cloud maintenance and types of system updates.
- Updating Pega Infinity for on-premises environments
Update to the latest Pega Infinity release to take advantage of new features and capabilities in the most current release and to apply the latest security enhancements and bug fixes.
- Applying the latest on-premises patch
With the Pega Platform patch release process, you apply the latest, important security, supportability and reliability improvements and bug fixes since the last minor release.
- Migrating existing mashups
To ensure that updates to Pega Platform 8.5.1 and later work seamlessly, you must migrate your existing mashups. Beginning in Pega Platform 8.5.1, Pega Web Mashups include a channel ID in the mashup code for validation with your mashup server.
- Managing update fixes with Deployment Manager
You can create pipelines in Deployment Manager version 4.8.2 or later to promote the latest application functionality to your production environment. By using Deployment Manager as a standard DevOps approach during updates, you can assess the effect of the latest Pega Platform capabilities and plan your new feature adoption strategy across your environments after you update to the latest version of Pega Infinity.
- Testing updates
After you update to the latest release of Pega Infinity, test your applications to ensure that they work with the latest Pega Infinity release.
