Understanding the Prospect Import wizard

Updated on September 15, 2022

Use the New button on the Prospect Lists tab of the Prospect Lists landing page to launch the Import Prospects wizard.

Pega Customer Decision Hub

Note: Starting in Pega Customer Decision Hub version 8.7, this functionality is considered deprecated and may be removed in future versions of the product. The new approach to manage prospects is to select an industry template when running the Customer Decision Hub setup wizard or adding a prospect property to the customer class for storing prospects in the system. For more information, see Configuring the prospect class.
The import process has the following two stages:
  • Import
  • Summary

Import

In this stage, provide the following information for the prospect list to import:

FieldDescription
List NameEnter a unique name for the prospect list.
TagOptional. Specify a tag to apply to each prospect in the list. You can use tags to group prospects imported from different prospect lists.
FileUse the Browse... button to select the prospect list ".xlsx" file.
Note: The columns in the import spreadsheet must correlate with the properties on the prospect class. Use the prospect import template file provided by your application administrator as a template for your prospect lists.
(no label)Choose from the following options for determining the unique id of the prospect:
  • No, auto-generate a unique value for each Prospect - Select this option to have the system generate the unique ID for the prospect. The ID will be a concatenation of the prospect list name and a uniquely generated string.
  • Yes, I will select the column - Select this option to denote one of the fields in the prospect list spreadsheet as the unique field. Additionally, select the Unique column from the list of available fields.

After configuring the necessary fields, click the Create button to initiate the import process and proceed to the summary stage.

Summary

In this stage, you can review the results of the import process. If the prospect list is large, use the Refresh action from the Other actions menu to refresh the summary results.

The system displays the following summary information:

  • Number of prospect entries imported
  • Number of erroneous entries skipped

In case of errors, the Rows with Invalid Data section displays the following information:

FieldDescription
Data RowRow number in the import spreadsheet of the erroneous record
Error MessageError message explaining why the record could not be imported

Use the See Prospect Data link to view a report containing information about the prospect data that was imported.

Once in the summary stage, you can close the import wizard (if desired). To return to the wizard, use the Open action from the Actions menu of the prospect list entry on the Prospect Lists landing page. You can also double-click the prospect list entry to open the wizard.
