Creating a new case type without a template

Updated on December 3, 2021

If you require a new case type, and none of the out-of-the-box templates have the features that you need, complete the following procedure to create a new case type without a template.

Pega Customer Service Implementation Guide
Using a case type template is a best practice. A case type template makes it faster to configure and maintain a case type, and it ensures that the case type follows best practices. If you do not use a template, you cannot use switches to enable and disable features. For more information, see Configuring case processing options.
  1. In the navigation pane of App Studio, click Case types.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the name for the new case type.
Note: When creating the new case type, do not use the Reuse assets from field in the Advanced section to create a new case type based on an out-of-the-box case type. Doing so will result in incorrect class structure and incorrect inheritance. Dev Studio includes an option that lets Administrators add an out-of-the-box case type to your application at a later time. For information, see Importing a case type.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Save.
  6. For more information about how to configure a case type, see Modifying case types.
