Configuring a product template for the healthcare insurance plan

Suggest edit Updated on September 10, 2021

A product template is like a container. It sets the structure and guidelines for products in a line of business or jurisdiction. It contains definitions for various components of an insurance product, such as configurations for benefit sets, networks, range of cost shares, coverage rules, and guardrails.

During product template creation, you select one or more provider networks and assign benefits to each network. By doing this, you create a structure of provider networks and their benefits where you define coverage levels, eligibility rules, guardrail rules, and the range of values for cost shares. A product template facilitates the efficient building of products because the products inherit the values that are defined in the product template for networks, benefits, and groupers.

The product template includes a seven-step wizard to guide you during configuration:

Step 1: Entering details for your product template

Step 2: Configuring networks and guardrails for your product template

Step 3: Selecting a benefit set for your product template

Step 4: Configuring cost shares and accumulators for your product template

Step 5: Configuring network cost shares for your product template

Step 6: Configuring benefits for your product template

Step 7: Setting the default benefit categories for your product template

Before you begin

Ensure that you have already configured benefit categories, benefits, benefit sets, groupers, and networks.

What to do next

Complete the first step of the product template wizard by entering the details for the product template. See Step 1: Entering details for your product template.
