Capitalize on Pega 7’s full support for PostgreSQL, a cost-effective open source database. Easily install Pega 7 to a PostgreSQL database using the Installation and Upgrade Assistant or the PRPC command-line interface.

Enterprise ready.

PostgreSQL is an open source database that provides a low-cost alternative to proprietary database systems. PostgreSQL supports most of the major features of the SQL:2008 standard, including all of the features required to run Pega 7 in an enterprise environment.

PostgreSQL has a small footprint, which makes it a good choice for installations of PRPC on laptops or other small computers.

PostgreSQL is supported by a large community of companies, several offering 24 x 7 global support.

PostgreSQL is packaged with a variety of administration tools that make configuration easy. Quickly create and configure databases using the pgAdmin GUI application, or with the psql tool for headless environments. There are also a large number of GUI tools available for PostgreSQL from both proprietary and open source developers.

Easy to install.

With Pega 7’s enhanced Installation and Upgrade Assistant (IUA), it is easy to install Pega 7 on PostgreSQL. New intelligent schema management capabilities eliminate the need for manual procedures.

PostgreSQL is also fully supported for operation in a “split schema” configuration,  a new capability aimed at minimizing downtime during future upgrades. Complete instructions for installing PRPC on PostgreSQL are provided in the Installation Guides for each supported application server.
