Defining a primary stage in a life cycle
You can use a primary stage to define a high-level phase in the life cycle of a case. By using primary stages, you can add structure to the expected behavior of your application.
For example, you can create the following primary stages: in-progress, approval, and completion.
- In the Explorer panel, click Case types, and then click the case type that you want to open.
- On the Workflow tab, click Life cycle.
- Click + Stage , and then enter a unique name in the text box that is displayed.
- Optional:
To change the way that a case moves from the stage, choose a transition method on the
General tab of the contextual property panel.
-
Automatically move to next stage — Transitions a case to the next stage in the sequence after all processes, including parallel processes, in this stage are completed.
This is the default transition method for a stage.
-
Wait for a user action — Transitions a case to a different stage in the sequence, as specified by the user at run time.
-
Resolve the case — Closes the case after all processes in this stage are completed.
This option does not allow the case to enter any subsequent stages unless a user manually reopens the case.
-
-
If you select Resolve the case as a transition method, provide
details for the case resolution.
- Optional: Define the suggested and required resolution times for the stage by selecting an option from the Service level agreement list.
- Click Save.
You can test your stage by creating a case and processing it.
