Enabling key Decisioning Management services

On the Services landing page, you can enable the key decision management services, define the connection between the Pega Platform and decision data nodes that store analytical data from a variety of sources, and monitor the state of each service.

About decision data nodes

A decision data node consists of a Pega Platform system augmented by an embedded Cassandra database process. Decision data nodes are clustered and capable of storing large volumes of data at high speed.

By creating a cluster of decision data nodes, you can leverage the Cassandra functionality to protect data from failure and provide horizontal scalability.

In Pega Platform, a decision data node can make specialized decisions in real time. This solution enables you to take data from different sources and make that data available for real-time processing and optimized for batch processing.

Data is distributed randomly across decision data nodes in the cluster. For this reason, you can expect approximately the same increase in disk space usage at the same rate. If nodes run out of disk space, you must resize your node cluster infrastructure and add a node to the infrastructure.

From the Services landing page, you can access services and configure or manage decision data nodes.

Types of decision management services

Any node that is a part of an outer cluster of the Pega Platform can be a D-Node. The cluster infrastructure detects if there are Pega nodes configured to operate as D-Nodes. The capability of adding D-Nodes to a service is disabled if the nodes are already part of the cluster or if no nodes are configured to be D-Nodes. The Services landing page lists the nodes that can participate in the following Decision Management functional areas:

  • Decision Data Store
  • Adaptive Decision Manager
  • Data Flow
  • Real Time Data Grid
  • Stream

You can add nodes to each service, display relevant information about the node, and provide the possible actions that can be performed on the node.
