HTML5 Application Readiness landing page

Applications that were created before Pega 7 might not be using the latest dynamic features of the Pega Platform user interface. You can use the HTML5 Application Readiness landing page to upgrade your application.

Applications that are built on Pega 7 or later versions use the HTML5 document type by default. Rendering the user interface in HTML5 document type ensures cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, use of the latest HTML markup, and improved performance, among other benefits. It also ensures that you can take advantage of all the new features in Pega Platform, including the following responsive, contemporary layouts that you can use to separate content from presentation:

Overview of the upgrade process

  1. Click Configure > User Interface > Application readiness > HTML 5 to open the Application Readiness landing page.
  2. Do one of the following actions:
    • If your application is guardrail-compliant, click the hyperlink to open the application definition, select the Render in HTML5 check box, and save the application rule.
    • If your application is not guardrail-compliant, upgrade the application, harnesses, and user interface elements by using the relevant tabs on the landing page.

Detailed instructions

For detailed instructions on upgrading your application to support HTML5, see the Pega Community article Upgrading an application to render in HTML5 document type.

For detailed instructions on upgrading custom CSS, see the Pega Community article Upgrading harnesses that contain custom CSS and JavaScript to render in HTML5 document type.

Unique IDs

Select this check box to add a unique identifier to each user interface element. HTML5-compliance and accessiblity standards require unique identifiers. This option is available for legacy applications and enabled by default for new applications.
