Specifying the lock time-out

Updated on August 25, 2021

Make sure that users do not lose their work or have it overwritten, by specifying the maximum time that a system remains locked when opened.

After the lock expires, the system can mark this lock as soft, which means that it becomes available to other users who request it. However, even after a lock is marked as soft, the lock holder retains the lock and can save and commit the updated system.

By default, the lock time-out is set to 120 minutes.

  1. In the navigation pane of Dev Studio, click Records.
  2. Expand the SysAdmin category, and then click System.
  3. Click the name of the system for which you want to specify the lock time-out.
  4. In the Lock timeout field, enter the maximum time in minutes that your system remains locked when opened.
  5. Click Save.
What to do next: Restart your system for the lock time-out changes to take effect.
