Limit update downtime with data schema update improvements (8.5)

Updated on February 1, 2022

Experience minimal downtime during updates to Pega Platform™ 8.5 because of several data scheme update improvements that increase the speed of the data schema update.

The optimized use of the data schema ensures that applying new database indexes to tables takes significantly less time. Additionally, the schema synchronization process during the update no longer scans the entire rule inventory to delete rules, resulting in a faster synchronization.

Pega Cloud® Services clients can experience faster, seamless updates to Pega Platform and client applications, because the data update step now ignores the Pega rules that were already imported during the rules schema update step.

With these service improvements, Pega Cloud Services clients in particular can update their environments within their scheduled maintenance windows.
