Released in July 2007, Process Commander V5.3 offers dozens of new capabilities for developers, application users, and system administrators, and resolves issues found in earlier versions. For an overview, see What's new in Process Commander 5.3.
These enhancements provide developers and system administrators with additional tools to monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot application configuration and performance.
- Tracer tool enhancements
- System Management Application enhancements
- Alert Log import into Excel
- Performance improvement at startup
The Tracer has been enhanced to save unprocessed events in a temporary disk file (on the server), rather than in JVM memory. This change frees up JVM memory and allows for larger buffer sizes (controlled through a
prconfig.xml file setting.) As a result, gaps should no longer arise from lost events in high-volume Tracer sessions. .
You can download Tracer output as an XML file or in familiar Comma-Separated Values format.
The Run > Trace Open Rule menu option now works for activities as well as service rules. As a result, you can trace one activity of interest without enabling Tracer output for all activities in a RuleSet.
The System Management application (SMA) is enhanced:
You can download a ZIP archive contain extensive configuration details in a single step. This consolidated file eliminates the need to research and respond to individual questions from Pegasystems Global Support.
Using the Advanced > Reports menu option, you can quickly determine the versions of deployed RuleSets.
The System Management application now operates on every application platform that Process Commander operates, including Oracle Application Server.
You can import the Alert log into Microsoft Excel for searching and summarization. Pegasystems provides a Excel template support Alert log analysis. .
prconfig.xml setting, the system can pre-populate the rules assembly cache on system start-up with selected rules that were heavily used in previous sessions. This feature is enabled by default and can significantly improve performance at startup..
