Exporting and importing simulation data automatically with Deployment Manager

Updated on September 15, 2022

You can create and run data migration pipelines in Deployment Manager to automatically export simulation data from the production environment into the Business Operations environment.

Important: If your Pega Customer Decision Hub application is deployed on Pega Cloud environment, you must use Deployment Manager to migrate the sample customer data.
Pega Customer Decision Hub
Before you begin:

Ensure that you have installed and configured Deployment Manager on the production and Business Operations environments and the orchestration server. For more information, see Deployment Manager for model-driven DevOps.

  1. In the navigation pane of Deployment Manager, click PipelinesData migration pipelines.
  2. Click New.
  3. If you are using Deployment Manager on-premises, on the Environment Details page, configure environment details.

This information is automatically populated if you are using Deployment Manager in Pega Cloud Services environments, but you can change it.

    1. In the Environment fields, enter the URLs of the production and Business Operations environments.
    2. If you are using your own authentication profiles, in the Auth profile lists, select the authentication profiles that you want the orchestration server to use to communicate with production and Business Operations environments.
    3. Click Next.
  4. On the Application details page, configure the application information for which you are creating the pipeline.
    1. In the Application list, select the name of the application.
    2. In the Version list, select the application version.
    3. In the Access group list, select the access group for which you run pipeline tasks. This access group must be present on the production and Business Operations environments and have at least the sysadmin4 role.
    4. In the Name of the pipeline field, enter the pipeline name.
    5. Click Next.
  5. Click Finish.

  6. Start a pipeline by doing one of the following actions:
    • If the pipeline for which you want to run a data simulation is open, click Start data migration.
    • If the pipeline is not open, click PipelinesData migration pipelines, and then click Start data migration.
  7. In the Start data migration dialog box, click Yes.
Result: You have created a data migration pipeline in Deployment Manager and automatically migrated sample data from the production to the Business Operations environment. You can now verify how the changes that you made to the decisioning framework impact the results of your strategies and prediction outcomes by running tests using that data.
What to do next:

In your Business Operations environment, run tests on the sample data that you imported. For more information, see Running a decision strategy simulation on sampled production data.

To view the main process outline for this tutorial, see Configuring the system for running simulations of decision strategies.

Tip: You will see the inbound and outbound data sets while creating a simulation in Next-Best-Action Designer. When you choose the Audience, the Simulation Data Set will be visible in the list, as in the following figure:
